Construction worker falls through roof of shopping mall, dies

A construction worker died this afternoon after falling through the roof of the Royal Mall building in Port Antonio.

Michael Jones, a resident of Stony Hill in Portland, was carrying out repairs on the roof around 3 p.m when a section of it collapsed.

Jones fell three storeys lower crashing to the concrete floor inside of the Royal Mall building.

He was rushed to the Port Antonio hospital where he was pronounced dead.

It is reported that Jones was not wearing any safety gear.

The Royal Mall building is currently undergoing major renovation.
