Finance Minister Audley Shaw says the ministry has moved to correct projections for the primary surplus for the upcoming financial year.

The Estimates of Expenditure show that the government anticipates a target of $120 billion, representing 5.6 per cent of Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

The Standing Finance Committee of Parliament is now reviewing the estimates.

Opposition Spokesman on Finance Mark Golding raised concern about the projection noting that it is significantly below Jamaica’s target of seven per cent by 2019.

He called for an expansion.

Responding, Shaw indicated that the figure in the budget is incorrect and is being corrected.
