A 16-year-old male is facing murder and other criminal charges arising from the shooting death of a man in Cassava Piece, St Andrew last week, the police have confirmed.

The teen’s identity has not been released because he is a minor.

In a message posted on Twitter late Friday the police say he has also been charged with conspiracy to murder, arson, shooting with intent as well as illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.

The teen is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.

The police say a second suspect remains in custody as the investigations are ongoing.

According to the police, Lorenzo Thomas, 23, popularly known as ‘Chulups’ and ‘Israel’, was shot and killed and his body set on fire by a group of armed thugs who forced their way into his home last Wednesday.

The killing occurred days after top Jamaican entertainer Mavado was reportedly shot at by a man in Cassava Piece.

The police have made a public appeal for the entertainer, real name David Brooks, to report to the Constant Spring Police Station, explaining that they believe he can assist with an ongoing investigation.

However, Mavado’s attorneys, Peter Champagnie and Tamika Harris say he is overseas fulfilling prior contractual obligations, but is prepared to meet with investigators at a mutually convenient time.
