The usually quiet community of Belmont in Westmoreland was rocked by the early morning double killing of two men today.
The dead men have been identified as 41-year-old Fritz Gerard and 32-year-old Dwayne Bell, both masons.
According to reports reaching The Gleaner, residents say they heard loud explosions coming from the direction of where the men lived sometime after 1:30 a.m.
The police were summoned and their bodies were seen inside the house in pools of blood.
Further investigation revealed that the men had what appeared to be several gunshot wounds to their upper bodies.
They were killed as they slept.
The Gleaner was also informed that the men, who they described as quiet and peaceful, had a habit of going to sleep with the house open.
The Westmoreland police are yet to determine a motive for the killings. They are calling on residents to come forward with any information that can assist in their investigations.
