Kingston man held with gun, ammunition charged

A man was arrested and charged by police following the alleged seizure of a nine millimetre Browning pistol with a magazine containing 14 millimetre cartridges.

Twenty-nine-year-old Daniel Grant, a maintenance worker of Mountain View Avenue, Kingston 3, is charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.

Grant is scheduled to appear in court on Friday, October 12.

The police say about 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon a team was conducting mobile patrol in the Old Hope Road area when they accosted Grant, who was reportedly acting in a manner that aroused their suspicion.

He was searched and the firearm and ammunition were reportedly found inside a knapsack he was carrying.

He was subsequently arrested and charged.
