Brace for delays along Elegant Corridor
Motorists in Montego Bay, St James have been warned to brace for delays, starting today, along the strip of roadway known as the Elegant Corridor.
The National Works Agency (NWA) says drivers may encounter delays over the next five days because of repair work on sections of the thoroughfare.
Janel Ricketts, Community Relations Officer at the NWA’s Western Region, says the repairs will be concentrated between the Montego Bay Convention Centre and the Blue Diamond Shopping Centre.
She says over the five days, sections of the corridor will be closed temporarily, resulting in the four lane roadway being reduced to two lanes.
According to Ricketts, the $10.5 million project involves excavation of sections of the roadway as well as refilling and resurfacing work.
She appealed to motorists to obey posted warning signs and the instructions of flag persons.
