Former US president George Bush dies at 94
Former United States president George H.W. Bush has died at the age of 94.
Bush was the 41st president of the United States and the father of the 43rd, George W. Bush.
His death has come less than eight months after that of his wife, Barbara.
They were married for 73 years.
Mr. Bush had been ailing for some time and in recent years used a wheelchair or motorized scooter.
On several occasions this year, he had to be hospitalised.
Bush was the last veteran of World War II to serve as US president.
His presidency soared with the coalition victory over Iraq in Kuwait, but plummeted in the throes of a weak economy that led voters to turn him out of office after a single term.
Bush presided during the collapse of the Soviet Union and the final months of the Cold War.
He died late Friday night, said family spokesman Jim McGrath.
