Teachers at Central High School in May Pen, Clarendon are staging a sit-in.

The teachers say they have had ongoing issues with the leadership of the school’s chairman and now want him to go.

They further complain that their issues have gone unresolved by the Ministry of Education and Member of Parliament Mike Henry.

“The staff continues to be restive as the promises made by the MP have borne no fruit. A meeting was held and in that meeting, we were promised that by the Tuesday we would have gotten a response,” a staff member at the school said.

“At this point in time the staff is sitting in the staffroom refusing to attend classes because there have still been no responses from the Member of Parliament or from the Minister of Education re: the stance of the chairman,” the staff member added.

Other members of staff are in solidarity with the teacher’s action.
