Senior Prosecutor Claudette Thompson appointed acting DPP
Prosecutor Claudette Thompson has been appointed acting Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
Her substantive position is senior deputy DPP.
The appointment took effect today and will run for six months.
Incumbent Paula Llewellyn stepped away Sunday because of "ambiguity" over a constitutional court ruling.
The Constitutional Court on Friday ruled that an amendment to the Constitution giving Llewellyn the power to elect to remain on the job was null and void and of no legal effect.
The Government plans to file an appeal against the ruling.
