Four men killed, cop injured in alleged shootout in downtown Kingston

The incident occurred about 1:30 a.m. after a police team responded to reports of a shooting. 

Four alleged gunmen were killed and a policeman shot and injured during a reported gun battle this morning in downtown Kingston.

Five illegal guns were also reportedly seized in the incident which climaxed at the corner of King and Charles streets.

The alleged gunmen were travelling in a Toyota Isis with six men aboard when the vehicle was reportedly signalled to stop, but the driver disobeyed.

Men reportedly alighted from the vehicle and opened fire, which was returned.

The injured policeman is now hospitalised.

Head of the Kingston Central police division, Superintendent Beresford Williams, confirmed the quadruple fatal shooting.
