Alleged goat thieves granted $50,000 bail

The case is to return to court on June 17.

Two men accused of stealing a goat valued at approximately $350,000 were granted bail in the sum of $50,000 each in the St Catherine Parish Court yesterday.

The accused are Dane Thomas, 23, of Tawes Meadows in Spanish Town, and 31-year-old Ricardo Thompson of a Spanish Town Road address.

The case is to return to court on June 17.

Allegations are that on April 25, the complainant securely locked his Boer goat inside a pen.

The animal was allegedly stolen by the accused who place the goat into a car and sped away.

The incident was reported to the police and an investigation was launched. 

The vehicle was intercepted in Prospect in Bog Walk, and both men were held.

Both accused were arrested and charged.
