The absence of a comprehensive psychiatric report has resulted in the postponement of sentencing for Simeon Ramsay who pleaded guilty last year to manslaughter for the death of his parents.

When the matter was mentioned in the St Catherine Circuit Court on Friday, it was revealed that the file was incomplete.

Ramsay, a teacher, was reportedly examined and said to have suffered from schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.

Attorney Tom Tavares-Finson told the court that there needed to be an adjournment to allow the report to be added for sentencing.

Justice Bertram Morrison agreed that a postponement was necessary and set sentencing for October 4.

Ramsay was remanded until that date.

Ramsay attacked and stabbed his parents, Phyllis Ramsay, a 55-year-old teacher, and Cecil Ramsay, a 59-year-old minister of religion, about 4 a.m. on February 4, 2022 at their home in Christian Meadows, Portmore, St Catherine.

He then drove away from the scene and was held in Phoenix Park, St Catherine, where the vehicle crashed.

He was subsequently arrested and charged with two counts of murder.

He pleaded guilty to the lesser offence of manslaughter on November 6, 2023.
