Incomplete file stalls case against JUTC driver accused of stealing fuel from bus
Bail was further extended on Friday in the St Catherine Parish Court for a Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) driver accused of stealing fuel from a bus assigned to him.
Everaldo Johnson, of Spanish Town, who is charged with simple larceny, was ordered to return to court on May 6.
The matter could not proceed because the court was informed that the case file is incomplete.
"Your honour, my client denies the allegations," said his Oral Myles on Friday.
The allegations are that on January 29, 2025, Johnson was assigned a bus fully supplied with fuel.
The court heard that a tracking system on the vehicle observed it parked for some time and fuel being drained from it.
The bus was located and checks reportedly revealed that 364 litres were drained from the vehicle.
The police were alerted and an investigation resulted in Johnson's arrest and charged with simple larceny.
