WESTERN BUREAU:

Magna Motors Dealership Limited, Jamaica’s exclusive Hyundai distributor, is set to transform the nation’s automotive landscape with the launch of a modern showroom and state-of-the-art service centre in Montego Bay, St James.

This milestone not only heralds the company’s ambitious expansion plans, but also commemorates a decade of operations in Jamaica – a journey that began in Kingston in 2015.

The Montego Bay facility is far more than just a new dealership location, it is the first significant stride in Magna Motors’ long-term strategy to bring premium Hyundai services and products to every corner of Jamaica.

During a vibrant soft launch event held on Thursday evening, Transport Minister Daryl Vaz praised the development as a crucial step in the Government’s ongoing mission to modernise the nation’s transportation infrastructure.

“Tonight’s event is not just about celebrating a new location – it signals the beginning of Hyundai Jamaica’s islandwide expansion. By opening additional locations across Jamaica, more citizens will soon have easier access to Hyundai’s exceptional vehicles and services.”

This sentiment was echoed by Magna Motors Managing Director Luz Tejada, who emphasised that the Montego Bay opening represents the starting point of a broader plan.

“Montego Bay is only the beginning. Our commitment is to ensure that every Jamaican, regardless of location, experiences the same world-class service and access to cutting-edge Hyundai technology.”

The new Montego Bay centre is being meticulously designed to reflect both innovation and comfort. On completion, visitors will be greeted by an expansive showroom where the latest Hyundai models are displayed with flair.

Beyond the impressive vehicle displays, the facility also boasts a fully equipped service centre, staffed by Hyundai-certified technicians.

“This centre is prepared to deliver top-notch maintenance and repair services, ensuring that every customer’s vehicle remains in peak condition,” stated Tejada.

In addition, a dedicated sales and support team will work out of the tourism capital. Designed to provide a seamless and personalised customer experience from the moment one steps through the door, this team is committed to assisting customers in navigating the array of Hyundai options available, says the Kingston headquartered Hyundai retailer.

A modern and inviting environment completes the facility, which mirrors Hyundai’s commitment to technological advancement and quality, creating an engaging space that underscores the brand’s promise of excellence.

Vaz also highlighted how this expansion dovetails with the Jamaican Government’s strategic initiatives aimed at modernising transportation. The Government’s proactive approach includes establishing policies to support eco-friendly and energy-efficient vehicles, aligning with global trends that favour fuel-efficient, hybrid, and electric models.

“As we work towards improving our roadways, traffic management, and sustainable transportation options, we welcome private-sector investments like this that support our vision of a modern, technologically advanced Jamaica.”

The minister’s remarks stressed that Hyundai’s role extends beyond simply offering quality vehicles, it is about ensuring that these vehicles contribute to a more sustainable future, with initiatives such as an electric vehicle (EV) policy framework and the planned expansion of charging infrastructure across the island.

The new Montego Bay facility is also a symbol of strong regional ties and economic cooperation. Departing Dominican Republic Ambassador to Jamaica Angie Martinez lauded the project as a testament to the deep friendship and mutual trust between Jamaica and the Dominican Republic.

“True partnerships are not just about business. They’re about people, about those who work tirelessly to bridge nations through cooperation, friendship, and shared success.”

Similarly, Metry Seaga, president of the Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica, recognised the showroom as a landmark achievement that embodies the power of strategic investment and regional cooperation. He noted that initiatives like these are vital for stimulating economic activity, creating jobs, and enhancing the overall quality of life for Jamaicans.

With the Montego Bay facility now open, Hyundai owners in the region can look forward to unparalleled service without the need to travel long distances. This development not only marks the expansion of Hyundai’s physical presence in Jamaica, but also reinforces the commitment to innovation, sustainability, and customer-centric service.
