Over 4,000 Jamaicans have failed to collect $20,000 giveback from gov’t
Over 4,000 Jamaicans have yet to collect their $20,000 disbursement from the Government under the Reverse Income Tax Credit initiative.
Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) says the funds were disturbed to remittance agencies.
TAJ says these 4,171 individuals have until Friday, March 7, to claim the funds, or the money will be returned to the Government.
Beneficiaries are reminded that they must present a valid government-issued identification and the transaction number sent to them via text or email when they were notified of the disbursement’s availability.
To date, the TAJ states that the Government has disbursed $6.9 billion in one-time tax giveback payments to 346,085 eligible individuals since the initiative's implementation in October 2024.
Although applications are now closed, taxpayers can still access the Reverse Income Tax Credit Hub on the TAJ portal at https://www.jamaicatax.gov.jm/ritc. This allows them to track their application status or find relevant information, including Frequently Asked Questions.
Additionally, applicants can seek support by contacting TAJ at (888) TAX-BACK / (888) 829-2225 or via email at TaxBack@taj.gov.jm.
The application deadline for new applicants expired on December 13, 2024, while the reapplication deadline was January 31, 2025.
Final payments are scheduled for March 7.
