April 30 next court date for seven men charged over illegal slaughterhouse operation in Central Village
Seven men accused of running an illegal slaughterhouse in Central Village, St Catherine, are scheduled to return to the parish court on April 30.
During an appearance in court on Friday, it was revealed that the case file remains incomplete, with two key statements still missing.
The accused are Kevin Bolton, Kevin Isaacs, Omar Thompson, Andre Henry, Davian McCrae, Sean Samuels, and Neville Higgins.
They have been charged with unlawful possession of property, having no food handlers permit, possession of agricultural produce without a receipt, and failure to give notice of infections.
The allegations against the men stem from a police operation near Big Lane, Central Village on December 20, 2024.
During the operation, law enforcement officers allegedly discovered signs of illegal praedial larceny and seized a number of items, including several public health stamps, 50 goat carcasses, and several live goats. A motor vehicle was also confiscated in connection with the operation.
Following the raid, the seven men were arrested and charged.
They are represented by attorneys-at-law Leonard Green, Kemoy McEkron, and Steven Palmer.
