Westmoreland 19-y-o charged for stabbing relative during dispute

A 19-year-old Westmoreland man has been charged for stabbing a relative repeatedly during a dispute.

Charged with wounding with intent is Demar Rankine, a labourer of Georges Plain.

Reports from the Savanna-la-Mar police are that about 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 27, Rankine had a dispute with a relative.

During the dispute, he reportedly used a knife to inflict stab wounds all over the man’s body.

Family members rushed the complainant to hospital, where he was admitted in serious condition.

On Monday, March 31 Rankine turned himself in to the police in the company of a Justice of the Peace.

He was subsequently charged based on a statement recorded from the victim implicating him.

His court date is being finalised.
