Former Senator Leslie Campbell has been fined $400,000 following his conviction for breaches of the Integrity Commission (IC) Act.

The fine has already been paid.

Campbell would have had to serve six months in prison if the fine was not paid.

The sentence was imposed in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Friday.

His attorney, Matthew Hyatt, said Campbell will not appeal the sentence.

Campbell, a former junior foreign minister, was charged in 2023 with breaches of the Parliament (Integrity of Members) Act and the Integrity Commission Act for failing to provide information about his assets and income following a recommendation from the IC’s director of corruption prosecutions.

He, however, accused the IC of misplacing some of the information the commission accused him of failing to provide.

In handing down sentence today, the judge also gave Campbell 90 days to comply with the request from the IC.

Campbell was found guilty last December.
