Finance manager fined for trying to use fake documents to renew driver's licence
A 62-year-old finance manager who attempted to renew a driver’s licence using forged documents at the Spanish Town Inland Revenue Department has been fined $100,000 or 30 days behind bars.
Richard Campbell, who resides in both Highfield, Jacksonville, Florida, and Spanish Town, St Catherine, pleaded guilty in the St Catherine Parish Court on Tuesday to uttering forged documents.
Court records show that around 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Campbell visited the tax office at Twickenham Park, where he presented documents bearing his name and photograph to renew a driver’s licence.
However, checks by a staff member revealed that the Taxpayer Registration Number was not valid and that the licence presented was not issued by the department.
The police were called, and Campbell was arrested and charged with uttering forged documents.
He was brought before Parish Court Judge Geneta Smikle, where he pleaded guilty and was sentenced.
