He is to go back to court on June 6.

A 35-year-old man who allegedly broke into a church in Portmore, St Catherine and stole several items was today remanded when he appeared in the parish court on a charge of sacrilege.

The accused is Donald Brown of Gregory Park in Portmore.

His attorney Evon Evans applied for bail, but Senior Parish Court Judge Yvette Wentworth-Miller said she was not minded to grant bail to Brown, who allegedly gave a caution statement.

He was then ordered remanded until June 6, when the bail application will continue.

Allegations are that on April 25, Brown was held on the compound of the church by King Alarm security personnel who were alerted by an alarm system.

He allegedly revealed that he had jumped the wall to gain entry to the church building.

Checks made in a vehicle in his possession revealed four high-end speakers and two flat-screen televisions, valued at over $500,000.

The police were called in, and he was arrested.

Following an investigation, he was charged with sacrilege.
