Jamaica were narrowly defeated 5-4 on penalties against Nigeria after a 2-2 draw in regulation time earlier today at the Gtech Community Stadium in the final of the Unity Cup.

Nigeria had taken the lead in the 10th minute through Moses Simon before Kaheim Dixon levelled play in the 12th minute.

Samuel Chukwueze had restored the Nigerian lead in the 53rd minute before Jon Russell pulled the team level once again in the 63rd minute.

In the penalty shoot-out, Dwayne Atkinson’s effort had struck the crossbar, giving Christantus Uche the chance to score the decisive penalty for Nigeria.

In the third-place match earlier in the day, Ghana defeated Trinidad & Tobago 4-0 in dominant fashion.
