St Catherine men who pleaded guilty to lottery scamming each fined $100,000
Two St Catherine men who pleaded guilty to lottery scamming charges were today each fined $100,000 or 18 months' imprisonment in the circuit court.
Adwelle Wilson and Damain Duffus, both of St John's Road in Spanish Town, had pleaded guilty last September to possession of identity information.
Defence attorney Shelldon Campbell requested that his clients be given time to pay the fines.
Justice Bertram Morrison granted the request.
Facts are that on April 30, 2020, the police conducted an operation along St John's Road, during which the men were held at home and several pieces of identity information of persons residing overseas were found in their possession.
The men were arrested and subsequently charged for breaching the lottery scamming law.
They made several court appearances and pleaded guilty in September last year.
