‘Pastor christen him pickney first’ - Marks promises 50 water tanks for JLP workers in Manchester North Eastern
Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) representative for Manchester North Eastern, Senator Audrey Marks, says 50 black water tanks will be distributed to party workers this week as part of efforts to “look after" them.
“We're going to have workers' meetings in each division, and we're going to be carrying 50 black tanks for workers in each division, right away. I ask that we start filling out the forms,” Marks said at the meeting on Sunday.
She added: "We're starting with 50 this week… All the workers will be getting water because... pastor christen him pickney first."
"We're going to look after you, workers in North East Manchester. We're going to be looking after you first. Shower Labourites!" she added, to cheers from the supporters.
Marks, who is set to replace outgoing Member of Parliament Audley Shaw, also announced that a ceremony will be held to recognise party workers for their service.
An eco-tourism project and housing issues in the constituency are also on the agenda, Marks said.
The businesswoman, a former Jamaican ambassador to the United States, is a minister in the Office of the Prime Minister.
The general election is expected by September.
Marks is to face the Valenton Wint of the Opposition People's National Party.
