The Reggae Boyz, who needed a statement win against Panama to secure a spot in the next round of the Concacaf Gold Cup, fell to a 4-1 defeat at the Q2 Stadium in the United States on Tuesday evening.

It is the first time since 2009 that Jamaica has been eliminated at the Gold Cup group stage.

A first-half hat-trick from Ismael Díaz in the 4th, 17th, and 45th minutes, along with a late goal from Tomás Rodríguez in the 89th, sealed the result for the Panamanians.

Amari’i Bell scored Jamaica’s consolation goal in the 27th minute.

The result, combined with Guatemala’s 3-2 win over Guadeloupe, means Jamaica finishes third in Group C and will not advance to the knockout rounds.

Panama and Guatemala finished first and second respectively and will move on to the quarterfinals.
