Trelawny man accused of sexual touching of 8-y-o girl
A middle-aged man has been arrested and charged by the Trelawny police for the alleged sexual touching of an eight-year-old girl.
Commanding Officer of the Trelawny Police Division, Deputy Superintendent Ainsley McCarty, confirmed the development, but said the man's name would not be released at this time.
"We are investigating other reports along similar offences conducted by the accused. We are holding on to his name because he will be facing an identification parade," McCarty told The Gleaner.
The accused reportedly lives in the community in which the child's school is located.
The principal of the school says students and staff are receiving counselling from the Ministry of Education.
"We are aware of the incident. The whole staff I can say does not condone any form of criminality against any of our students," she said.
