Prosecution ends case following mediation in assault case against Spanish Town businessman

A successful mediation has resulted in the prosecution withdrawing its case against a businessman who allegedly caused a customer to be assaulted by gangsters in Spanish Town, St Catherine in January.

The accused was Mianxu Ye, a 33-year-old operator of Wonderful Choice Wholesale on Cumberland Road, Spanish Town.

He was answering charges of aiding and abetting assault occasioning bodily harm and aiding and abetting robbery with aggravation.

When the matter came up for mention in the St Catherine Parish Court on Friday, attorney-at-law Orville Morgan, who defended Mianxu, told Senior Parish Court Judge Desiree Alleyne that the mediation between the parties was successful.

The order was read in court, and the matter was brought to an end.

Allegations are that on January 26, 2025, the complainant went to purchase items from the man's wholesale along Cumberland Road, Spanish Town.

He was accused of stealing an item.

Mianxu reportedly called a group of men who physically assaulted the complainant and robbed him of goods valued at $12,500 from the wholesale.

A report was made to the Spanish Town police, and an investigation was launched, which resulted in the arrest and charging of the businessman.
