Disanthia Ainsworth today pleaded guilty in the St Catherine Parish Court to breaking into a car and stealing over $1 million.

Ainsworth pleaded guilty to simple larceny and malicious destruction of property and was remanded for sentencing on September 2.

Acting Senior Parish Court Judge Janelle Nelson-Gayle ordered a social enquiry report and requested that the police's Financial Investigation Division indicate why the money (exhibit) is being held.

The facts are that on June 11, the complainant parked his vehicle in a parking lot in Spanish Town.

Upon his return, he discovered that a window on the vehicle had been smashed and that $1.2 million was missing.

He reported the matter to the police, and with the assistance of Jamaica Eye, a vehicle carrying Ainsworth was intercepted.

She was taken into police custody and subsequently charged.
