Deliveryman tells court Noel Maitland hired him to remove sofa from his apartment
A Kingston deliveryman today testified that Police Constable Noel Maitland hired him to transport a sofa from his apartment in New Kingston to Half-Way Tree.
The witness, who owns a pick-up truck, said he was outside a popular hardware store in Kingston where he solicits customers when a colleague, identified only as Carlos—now deceased—called him and told him about the job.
He said that when he arrived, Maitland, who was a stranger to him at the time, was sitting nearby in his car.
According to the witness, Maitland told him he wanted a sofa picked up from New Kingston and delivered to Half-Way Tree.
Maitland reportedly instructed him to drive behind his vehicle, and the witness said he followed in his truck, along with Carlos.
When asked what time this was, the witness said he could not recall the exact date but remembered it was in July, three years ago.
The witness is expected to resume his testimony in the Home Circuit Court after the lunch break.
Maitland is on trial for the murder of his girlfriend, Donna-Lee Donaldson, 24—a popular influencer, swimwear entrepreneur, and customer service representative—who was reported missing on July 13.
She was last seen at Maitland’s apartment two days earlier.
Her mother had testified that Maitland picked her up from home on July 11, and that she last spoke to her daughter the following morning but was unable to reach her afterward.
