'Rasta' accused of raping woman after giving her $3,000 and demanding sex
Sixty-year-old labourer Junior Simpson, otherwise known as ‘Rasta’ of Fairy Hill, Portland, has been charged after allegedly confessing to raping a woman in his community on March 24.
The Port Antonio police say about 5 p.m., Simpson entered a woman’s house, took $3,000 from his pocket and placed it in her handbag.
He then demanded sex from the woman, and when she refused, he pushed her onto a bed and sexually assaulted her.
Following the ordeal, the woman reported it to the police, and an investigation was launched into the matter.
Simpson was taken into custody on July 17 and charged on July 22, after he was pointed out in an identification parade.
The police say he also gave a confession statement.
A court date is being finalised for him.
