Lowell Campbell appointed trustee of Jamaica College Trust
With over three decades of strategic leadership in banking operations, technology transformation, and regulatory compliance, Lowell Campbell is now set to bring this acumen, experience and knowledge to the Jamaica College (JC) Trust board as a director/trustee.
Campbell is currently senior vice president at Citigroup.
Derek Jones, chairman of the JC Trust, in making the disclosure, said he was elated to have Campbell onboard.
“It is an honour to have this distinguished JC ‘Old Boy’ join the board of the JC Trust. The income from the Trust provides assistance to the school, as well as occasional capital contributions. Trustees are stewards of these funds, and we are delighted to be joined by someone of Lowell’s expertise and history,” Jones said.
The Trust is currently made up of trustees, all of whom are old boys.
Campbell replaces Dr Peter Weller, a regionally respected psychologist who recently retired after giving many years of outstanding service as a trustee.
A graduate of JC (Class of 1978), Campbell is said to demonstrate exceptional commitment to educational advancement through his service on the JC Board of Management and as founding member and former secretary of the Jamaica College Old Boys Association of New York, where he currently serves as advisory board chairman. He is also a founding member and past treasurer of the Union of Jamaican Alumni Associations (USA) Inc, further exemplifying his dedication to strengthening diaspora institutions and educational networks.
His dedication to community service extends through leadership roles in prominent civic and philanthropic organisations, including United Way, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Inroads, Junior Achievement and Toastmasters International, where he champions mentorship and educational opportunity.
Campbell said he is humbled to have been asked to join the JC Trust and will work assiduously to ensure the proper management of the Trust.
“I am fully committed to Jamaica College and have been involved in several different posts over the years. This is an utmost privilege for me, and I will do my best to work with the other trustees in achieving the objectives of the Trust,” Campbell said.
His extensive career encompasses executive leadership across premier global Institutions like JP Morgan and Deutsche Bank New York.
