St Catherine mechanic accused of stealing and scrapping vehicle remanded
A mechanic accused of stealing a vehicle and scrapping it was remanded when he appeared before the St Catherine Parish Court today.
Rajiiv Ramjeet, 30, of Spanish Town, is charged with larceny of a motor vehicle.
He was ordered by Acting Senior Parish Court Judge Janelle Nelson-Gayle to return to court on September 16.
Allegations are that on June 7, the complainant parked her 2016 Toyota Noah motor vehicle at her gate and went to sleep.
When she awoke, the vehicle was discovered missing.
A report was made to the police.
The vehicle was subsequently found in Portmore, St. Catherine, partially scrapped.
An investigation led to the accused being arrested.
He reportedly gave investigators a caution statement.
He was subsequently charged with larceny of a motor vehicle.
