Motorists are being advised to expect delays along sections of Spanish Town Road in St Andrew as pavement repairs get under way.

The works, which commenced on Thursday, July 31, will continue for the next three months.

Manager of Communication and Customer Services at the National Works Agency (NWA), Stephen Shaw, says that the works, valued at just under $79 million, is being undertaken in four packages.

He says that as part of the work, the old asphalt surface will be removed and replaced with a new asphaltic concrete pavement.

The sections of the roadway that are being targeted are the eastbound and westbound lanes between Weymouth Drive and the Seaview Gardens traffic lights; eastbound lanes from the Seaview Gardens traffic lights to Three Miles; and the section between Albert Street and Maxfield Avenue.

Shaw says that during the periods of work, the roadway will be reduced in sections according to the progress of the work.

He is advising motorists to remain vigilant while using the corridor and to obey the instructions of flag persons and warning signs.
