Leon Bailey to join AS Roma on season-long loan
Reputable football journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported that Aston Villa has reached an agreement in principle with Serie A club AS Roma for the loan transfer of Jamaican international Leon Bailey.
Bailey’s adopted father and agent, Craig Butler, had confirmed with The Gleaner that the player was in negotiations with Roma a few days ago, among other clubs.
The reported deal will see Bailey join the Italian club on a season long loan for a reported fee in the region of €3 million with the addition of a €22 million buy option clause.
The winger is reportedly set to travel today to his new club, with his medical scheduled for Tuesday.
Bailey was omitted from Aston Villa’s 0-0 draw with Newcastle United on the opening day of the Premier League season.
