JLP Rally | Homer Davis: 'Much More Work Left to Be Done' in St James Southern
Homer Davis, the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) incumbent Member of Parliament for St James Southern, has admitted that while progress has been made, much more work is left to be done in the constituency.
His admission comes 10 days before Jamaicans head to the polls on September 3 while addressing JLP supporters at a mass meeting in Sam Sharpe Square on Sunday night.
“As you leave here tonight, there’s a lot of work to be done. There’s a lot of tidying up to be done, and we’re not going to take this election easy,” Davis said.
“We’re not going to sit down and expect the election is going to be just given to us. We’re going out there to fight it over the hills, down in the valleys, on top of the mountain, to make sure that the Jamaica Labour Party gets this third term,” he stated.
The first-term member of parliament pointed to investments in water, housing, agriculture and road infrastructure but stressed that the mission is ongoing.
“Since I became the Member of Parliament for St James Southern, more than $1.2 billion has been spent or is being spent on water projects,” he said.
Davis urged supporters not to become complacent. “We cannot be fooled by pie-in-the-sky promises. We must stick to what you know. Stick to what is working for you. Stick to the progress of this government. Stick to the prosperity of this government and choose Jamaica.”
