Man jailed in Bahamas for having sex with minor
NASSAU, Bahamas, CMC – A High Court judge in the Bahamas has sentenced a 54-year-old man to 12 years in prison after he admitted to sex-related charges against a minor.
Justice Renae McKay sentenced Tonie Brown after he accepted a plea deal, pleading guilty to two counts of unlawful sexual intercourse.
The court heard that the crimes took place in September 2023, when the victim was 12 years old, and in August 2024 when she was a year older.
The incidents occurred while the child was visiting a family friend, who was dating Brown.
Brown has been in custody since he was formally charged with the crimes in December 2024, and according to the terms of the agreement, he will receive credit for the time spent on remand.
Following his release, Brown will be placed on probation for one year and will be sent back to prison for a year if he breaches the terms of his probation.
