There has been a marginal increase in the number of eligible voters likely to cast ballots in the upcoming general election, while there has been a decline in those not likely to vote, the latest RJRGLEANER-commissioned poll has found.

The poll, conducted by the Don Anderson-led Market Research Services Limited, revealed that 55.5 per cent of respondents answered "yes" when asked if they plan to vote in the election set for September 3.

It also found that 28.3 per cent of respondents do not plan to vote.

The remaining 16.5 per cent were unsure whether they would vote.

The poll was conducted over the period August 22 to 26 and surveyed 1,010 persons aged 18 years and over across all parishes.

It has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 per cent.

Another RJRGLEANER-commissioned survey, published earlier this month, revealed that almost 51 per cent of Jamaica’s voting population planned to cast ballots on Wednesday.

At that time, respondents who said they would not vote stood at 29.1 per cent, while those who were unsure stood at 20.5 per cent.
