People’s National Party (PNP) candidate for Westmoreland Western, Ian Hayles, urged voters to remain patient despite delays in the electoral process today.

“The people are here, and the people are energised to vote,” Hayles told The Gleaner this morning. “I think the electoral process in terms of the EOJ is very slow and people are getting impatient. But I want to appeal to the citizens. It’s your democratic right. So I’m going to ask to be patient today, even if it takes all day.”

“Just stay in line and ensure that we all vote today,” he pleaded.

Turning to his chances at the polls today, Hayles says all polls have projected him as the winner.

“Look, I think all the projected polls thus far showed me with a comfortable lead. I expect the people of Western Westmoreland will elect me today as their next member of parliament- elect, and I look forward to serving them,” he said.

“I know that there’s a lot of red tape bureaucracy and the process is slow, but that can be dealt with after. I’m appealing to every citizen, just hold on a little bit for me today,” Hayles added.
