Rushell Clayton out of World Champs due to injury
Jamaica’s reigning women’s 400m hurdles national champion Rushell Clayton is out of the 2025 World Athletics Championships due to injury.
“I can confirm that Ms Rushell Clayton has been withdrawn due to injury,” team manager Ian Forbes said upon the team’s arrival in Tokyo ahead of the championships.
Clayton, a two-time World Championships medallist and three-time national champion, has been struggling with injuries this season, after registering a ‘Did Not Finish’ (DNF) at the Kingston Grand Slam.
Clayton had briefly returned to the track in time to claim her third national title at the national championships in June, but has been absent due to lingering injuries since.
The World Championships are set to begin on Saturday, September 13, at the Japan National Stadium.
