Farmer charged over discharge of licensed gun during dispute in St Elizabeth
A St Elizabeth farmer, who is a licensed firearm holder, has been charged over the discharge of his weapon during a dispute with another man in his community earlier this year.
The accused has been identified as a 27-year-old from Hounslow district in the parish.
According to the Pedro Plains police, about 6:30 p.m. on June 13, the farmer allegedly discharged several rounds from his licensed firearm during the dispute.
A report was subsequently made to the police.
The farmer turned himself in two days later and was interviewed before being released.
However, investigations continued, and on Tuesday, September 9, he was taken into custody again, according to a police statement issued on Saturday.
He was charged with discharge of firearm in any place following a question-and-answer session conducted in the presence of his attorney.
The farmer is scheduled to appear in the St Elizabeth Parish Court on October 8.
