The National Water Commission (NWC) is advising customers in Kingston and St Andrew that the water restrictions on its Mona and Hope systems, which arose due to dry conditions, have now been lifted.

This follows a significant rise in inflows from the Hope River, which has helped to increase the stored volume at the Mona Reservoir to over 97% of its full capacity (808.5 million gallons).

With this improvement, customers served by these systems have returned to regular water supply, effective Sunday, October 19.

While welcoming this positive development, the NWC is also urging customers to use the additional supply times wisely and to continue practising water conservation.

According to the company, even with current levels being favourable, responsible usage remains essential to preserve these gains and to help safeguard against upcoming dry conditions.

The public is also being reminded to refresh and replenish household storage containers, as a precautionary measure in light of the ongoing inclement weather which may temporarily impact sections of the distribution network.

The NWC continues to monitor all major water supply systems across Jamaica and remains hopeful that sustained inflows will further strengthen reliability through the coming dry months of 2026.
