Kingston Wharves to resume operations Thursday, October 30
Kingston Wharves Limited ( KWL ) is preparing to resume operations Thursday, October 30, after experiencing minimal disruptions from Hurricane Melissa.
The company said its teams are actively working to restore full functionality and ensure the safety and readiness of its terminal and warehouses, which are scheduled to reopen at 7 a.m. tomorrow.
In an operational update, KWL extended sympathy to individuals, families and communities affected by the hurricane.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone who has suffered loss or disruption as a result of the storm,” the company said. “We thank our employees, customers and partners for their patience and resilience during this time. Together, as a nation and as a community, we will rebuild and emerge stronger.”
The government issued an all-clear for Jamaica this morning, allowing utility companies to begin restoration and recovery efforts across the island.
Authorities also encouraged supermarkets, wholesalers, gas stations and pharmacies—particularly in less affected areas—to reopen where possible to ensure communities have access to essential goods and services.
