The police have charged a 21-year-old man for last week’s shooting of two men in Dunbeholden, Portmore, St Catherine.

Orane Sertchell, alias Natty, who lives in the area, is charged with wounding with intent, possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorised possession of ammunition, and using a firearm to commit a scheduled offence.

He was charged on Tuesday.

According to the police, about 12:20 a.m. on Friday, October 31, the men were standing along Mattis Lane in Dunbeholden when a dispute developed between them over money.

Three other men then walked up.

During the dispute, one of the men pulled a handgun from his waistband and opened fire, hitting the two men in the upper body.

He then ran from the scene and escaped into the community.

The injured men were assisted to the Spanish Town Hospital, where they were admitted.

An investigation was launched by the police.

The accused subsequently reportedly turned himself over to the police.

He was charged following a question-and-answer session in the presence of his lawyer.

A date is being arranged for him to go to court.
