The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising that the Bog Walk Gorge in St Catherine will remain closed to motor vehicles, out of an abundance of caution, due to the roadway still being blocked by utility poles.

The roadway, which was expected to reopen today, cannot be reopened as it will be challenging for motorists to manoeuvre in the area due to the impediments, the NWA said.

NWA Manager of Communication and Customer Services, Stephen Shaw, said that there is a Jamaica Public Service pole that is currently down along the roadway.

He said that the electricity company has advised that they will need another 48 hours before it will be able to address that issue.

As a result, the corridor will remain closed.

Shaw further stated that passage across the Flat Bridge would also have been a challenge for motorists because the traffic signals are currently not working.

He said motorists should continue to use alternative routes to access their destinations.

The NWA will advise the public when the impediments have been removed and the corridor is once again safe to traverse.
