Ariel Bowen deployed to temporarily head Jamaica's New York consulate
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade says Ariel Bowen is being deployed to the Consulate-General of Jamaica in New York as Officer-in-Charge.
Bowen has held several positions in the Jamaican foreign service and, prior to her appointment, was under-secretary in the Ministry of Foreign affairs and Foreign Trade.
She is no stranger to the Jamaican Diaspora having served in the Jamaican Embassy in Washington DC and the Jamaican Consulate in New York.
She was also head of the Diaspora Unit in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Her deployment follows the death of Consul General Alsion Roach on November 8 following a battle with breast cancer.

Editor's note: A previous version of this story stated that Bowen was taking up the post of interim consul-general. However, the ministry has clarified that her role will be Officer-in-Charge.
