A 17-year-old boy who was allegedly among a group posing as passengers before robbing a driver for a popular ride-sharing company has been charged with robbery with aggravation, possession of a prohibited weapon, and using a firearm to commit a felony.
A court date is being arranged.
Reports from the Half-Way Tree police are that between 11:00 p.m. and 12:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 12, on Slipe Road in Kingston 5, the boy and his accomplices requested a ride through the platform.
Shortly after entering the vehicle, one of the men allegedly held a knife to the driver’s neck, while another pointed a firearm at him, according to the police.
It is further alleged that the teen dragged the driver from the vehicle, after which the group drove away with the car, as well as a bag containing $50,000 and electronic devices valued at $60,000.
A report was made to the police, and an investigation was launched immediately.
According to the police, the boy was later arrested during a targeted operation and was formally charged following a question-and-answer session conducted in the presence of his attorney and guardian.
