The New Democratic Party (NDP) has secured victory in the 2025 national elections in St Vincent and the Grenadines, defeating the Dr Ralph Gonsalves-led United Labour Party (ULP).
Dr Godwin Friday, the NDP leader, will become the island’s seventh prime minister since its independence in 1979, concluding an almost quarter-century period outside the government’s central leadership.
Gonsalves' ULP has governed since 2001.
Preliminary figures showed the NDP leading in 12 of 15 seats across St Vincent & the Grenadines up to 8 p.m.
