Remedial works being undertaken along Bull Bay main road to address defects, expect delays - NWA
The National Works Agency (NWA) says remedial works are being undertaken along the Bull Bay main road to address defects that have manifested since the opening of the four lanes to the motoring public.
The works, which are being carried out over three weeks, are taking place along the section of the road between Seven Miles, St Andrew and 10 Miles, St Thomas.
Manager, Communication and Customer Services at the NWA, Stephen Shaw, says the contractor, China Harbour Engineering (CHEC) Limited, is contractually liable to correct the defects, therefore, the works are being done at no additional cost to the Government.
Shaw says that the works form part of the multibillion-dollar contract for the widening of the road from two to four lanes.
He says that during the next three weeks, the team from CHEC will be along the corridor executing works.
He says that motorists will therefore be impacted, as in some cases, the asphaltic concrete surface will be removed.
He says selected valve boxes, which are crucial to the delivery of water to residents along the corridor, will also be repositioned.
The motoring public is therefore being advised to exercise caution in traversing the road from Seven Miles, St Andrew to 10 Miles, St Thomas.
They are also being urged to obey warning signs and the instructions of flag persons.
