Contributors can apply for 2018 refunds from January 1 - NHT
The National Housing Trust (NHT) will begin accepting applications for refunds of contributions made in 2018 starting January 1, 2026, the agency announced on Wednesday.
The opening of the 2026 refund period allows qualified contributors to apply for a return of their 2018 contributions and eligible contributors may submit applications at any time during the year, the trust said.
All mortgagors whose accounts are up to date are also eligible to apply for a refund of their 2018 contributions.
The NHT stressed that refund applications must be submitted online only through its official platforms - the NHT website at www.nht.gov.jm or the NHT Online portal at online.nht.gov.jm.
Applicants are being urged to ensure that all information submitted is accurate, as errors can delay processing or require applications to be resubmitted. Contributors must also have their NIS and TRN cards available when applying.
According to the NHT, correctly submitted applications are processed within 15 working days.
It said contributors should not to submit multiple applications unless directed by an NHT representative.
Refunds are currently paid via direct deposit to bank accounts only.
The agency also warned contributors to be vigilant against fraudulent communications, noting that official correspondence will only come from verified NHT channels.
The agency said a new mobile app is currently under development and is expected to be launched in the coming year.
