Smiles lit up the Mustard Seed Children’s Home in Spanish Town as members of CB Foods and the Friends Who Care outreach team arrived, greeted by children eager for familiar faces and festive cheer.
Youngsters from Dare to Care and Martha’s House enjoyed an early Christmas celebration, filled with laughter, games, music and food on Sunday. More than 30 children took part in the event, which marked the 13th year of the Christmas treat organised by Friends Who Care, a group of past and present CB Group employees.
“Over the years, we’ve built a genuine bond with the children, and it’s one that keeps us coming back,” said Roxanne Isaacs, outreach coordinator at CB Group and a founding member of Friends Who Care. “They’re always excited to see us, and we truly enjoy spending time with them. The appreciation from both the children and staff makes the experience incredibly rewarding.”
Melissa Williams, assistant administrator at Mustard Seed, expressed gratitude for the long-standing support. “The children genuinely look forward to this treat every year,” she said. “This year’s celebration lasted close to three hours, with talent performances, games and lots of laughter. We’re truly grateful for the time, care and effort poured into making this such a meaningful experience.”
CB Foods supplied chicken and ham through its CB Chicken and Caribbean Passion brands, ensuring the children enjoyed a hearty meal on the day and for Christmas dinner. “At CB Group, our purpose is to make a difference, and initiatives like Friends Who Care bring that purpose to life,” said Samantha Fisher, assistant brand manager. “Our mission goes beyond food…we believe in using food as a way to show care, connection and compassion.”
Friends Who Care, an employee-led initiative, has grown into a tradition of nourishment and engagement. As the holiday season unfolds, the partnership with CB Foods continues to create moments of joy, strengthen community ties, and remind children that they are surrounded by people who care.
