A Kingston higgler who surrendered to the police has been charged with murder in connection with a May killing in the capital, investigators said.

The accused, 37-year-old Antroy Edwards, otherwise called 'Mosquito', of Wild Street in Kingston is charged with murder, possession of a prohibited weapon, and using a firearm to commit a felony following the death of 26-year-old Nicholas 'Unchie' Williams.

Williams was from Water Lane, Kingston.

According to Central Police, at about 3:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 22, Edwards and accomplices went to Williams’ home and opened gunfire on Williams before fleeing the area. The police were alerted and Williams was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

In a separate incident, Edwards has also been charged with housebreaking and larceny in relation to a report made on November 14. Police say he broke into a woman’s house on Hampton Street and stole a gift basket and a power bank before escaping over a fence.

Edwards later turned himself in to the police on Tuesday.

He was formally charged based on a witness statement and following a question-and-answer session conducted in the presence of his attorney.
